Great Outdoors

Our nursery children have great fun playing, learning and exploring outdoors. We encourage use of the outdoor environment on a daily basis, as it's a valuable opportunity to enhance and extend what we offer the children indoors. Our outdoor activities include:

  • Parachute games
  • Sand and water play
  • Garden sensory activities
  • Ball and beanbag games to enourage hand and eye co-ordination
  • Obstacle courses to encourage balancing, jumping, crawling and climbing
  • Freeplay with bikes and ride-on toys
  • Storytime in the den
  • Spring gardening activities
  • Songtime under the parkland trees
  • Teddy Bear's picnic
  • Summertime sports

Our younger nursery children enjoy the fresh air and the stimulating environment with regular trips out in our six seater kiddy bus to the local parks.

We provide wellies and waterproof all-in-one suits for children to experience and explore the seasonal changes. We also take regular trips to Penylan Library, Waterloo Gardens and the local playground.

Forest School Activities Our nursery is perfectly surrounded by beautiful parkland for the children to play and learn through forest school activities. It gives them an understanding and appreciation of the natural environment, time to explore, investigate, problem solve and try new skills in the wide open space with natural resourses. Examples of activities:

  • Splashing in puddles and scrunching in leaves
  • Making mud pies
  • Searching for insects with magnifying glasses
  • Pass the pinecone game
  • Listening to sounds in the surroundings
  • Meet a tree sensory activity, bark rubbings and measuring tree trunks
  • Collecting natural resources for show and tell and art and craft collage work
